Lots of New Toys

Since no one comes to our house for Halloween (we live on the wrong side of the tracks here in So Pas. All the fun is to be had on the other side of Fair Oaks), we went out and Looked at New Cars, New TV's, and had some food. Best of all, I bought a New Camera!!! Yeah!!!

Now I have no excuse for not blogging, and if you believe that...

I received some fun things in the mail over the last few days and with my new Canon Powershot A540 (the best deal is at Target of all places) here are pics of what I got.

I ordered a small Project Bag from piddleloop.com.
Jillian(the enabler that she is) was going on about how much she liked hers and so of course I had to go check it out and I had to buy one for myself.

I love it. It is just the right size, has places for needles and one of the best things is the hole for the yarn to come through!

They even send freebies with the package.

The other package that came the same day was the new "Socks that Rock" club yarn.

It matches the bag perfectly! I even put their little emergency skein that comes with the yarn on my new bag.

So there you go, new play toys all around. Doing the Happy Dance!!

Halloween Fun!

Here are some pics of my Halloween decoration. Thanks to Mary I was able to get pics off my phone onto my blog. Wow, that is a lot of technology for one day, at least I had a lot of knitting time to balance it out!

My Ghosties

From my Waldorf School Days I have a Nature Table. It has lots of witches, pumpkins, and spiders. You don't get it all with this phone camera, But it is better then nothing.

The Joy of Fall!!

Well I still don't have a camera. So I am going to write some things so that I feel like I am doing something with this blog.

Marie had this one her blog so I did the quiz.

You Belong in Fall

Intelligent, introspective, and quite expressive at times...
You appreciate the changes in color, climate, and mood that fall brings
Whether you're carving wacky pumpkins or taking long drives, autumn is a favorite time of year for you

Now this comes as no surprise to me. My street is full of sugar maple trees and the leaves are turning. I do a happy dance when the first leaves fall on my lawn and then sit on my front porch just marveling at the wonderful colors.

As I write this I am in my livingroom with my Halloween decoration up, candles burning, Nora Jones on the ipod, enjoying the cooler weather.

Of course with fall comes the real comfort of knitting. I knit all year long but with the change of weather knitting takes on extra comfort.

So here's to Fall and Funky Pumpkins, Witches, football games, hot soup, candles and toes that stay toasty with the socks that were knitted over the summer.

Great Day

I had a great day! We are having a sale at Uraveled through tomorrow. Many of my SnB group came this morning. I had so much fun helping them spend their money.

I love working at a yarn store!!

I also brought in all my finished Shrugs and we talked the beautiful Mary into modeling for the pictures.

The Finished Projects Extravaganza

Bergamo Shrug from Weekend Knits
I used Cash Soft by Rowen
color Poppy
There were no modifications. I loved using this yarn it feels like butter and drapes really nice.

Crochet Shrug

Pattern is the Cover of the Tahki Stacy Spring Crochet Book
Yarn: I used Blue Heron Cotton/Rayon Tape
Color: Old Gold
Kertzer Kitty Railroad yarn
Color: Stain

Modifications: I made the small shrug. I didn't have enough yarn to do two rounds of the trim. But it looks fine with one. If you make the larger size you will have enough for the trim.

The railroad yarn adds a lot to the look of the shrug. It is a great way to use railroad to spark things up.

Last but not Least:

The Twisted Float Shrug

Pattern is from the Fall issue of Vogue - the cover

Yarn: Lorna Laces shepherd Worsted Superwash

Modification: none. But the next one I make I will make the circle larger so the shrug is longer.

There is a good picture of this on the Twisted Float Shrug KAL

Now it is time to figure out what to make Mom for Christmas. Have no clue. But it is too blessed hot to do much but socks. But as we discussed at the last SnB

"I am not a sock knitter" wink wink

Has She Fallen and Can't Get Up??

Who me??
I Always Get Up!!

But Really Now, I have to write more often then this.
It has been 6 weeks.
How did that happen?

OK, here come the excuses........
I have been very busy........ even though I haven't put it on the web. I have been finishing UFO's, working on Christmas presents AND........
I have been thinking up and making class samples for the fall and holiday season.

Go Fay Lynn!!

So you will forgive me if I haven't bloged.

Since I have been good at keeping my new "resolutions" (for lack of a better word) I am going to make a new one..........
Yup you guessed it. To blog twice a week.......

No, better make that once a week to start. After I am successful with that I will go for more.

No Camera = Boring Post

My camera broke over the weekend. Sand or something got into it and it won't open. It is in the camera hospital.

But what is a post without pics??

BORING!!

So here is some eye candy that isn't mine.

Just Over the Top

I did finally take the shrug out of it's "Time Out" status and finished it. It still gave me some lip.

But I Prevailed!

I will block it this weekend. Maybe the camera will come home from the hospital and I can take some pictures.

Next up?

Annie Modesitt's "Twisted Float Shrug" found in the Fall 2005 Vogue Knitting Magazine.
My other sister's birthday is next week so I have to get hopping on this Christmas present. Good News! It's half done.

I am still not behind!

Bad Fay Lynn, Bad Shrug

Oh the PAIN of it all.

Why is it that a project can be humming along.

Pick up 256 stitch along the bottom and inside edges-check

Knitting in the round - check

Knit 3 garter stitch rows - checks

Drop Stitch row, wrapping 4 times on all 256 stitches - check

Begin slipping and knitting 8 wrapped stitches in reverse order - check

I completed about 5 set of 8 and then.........

The "Knit 3" row is in stockinette instead of garter stitch, I am knitting in the round now..........I should have puled two of the rows......

Bad Fay Lynn
Bad Bad Fay Lynn

Take out the last 3 hours of work - check!!

I am not a happy camper right now. I am so not a happy camper.

Rockin Sock Club to the rescue. A wonderful package in the mail.

I love these colors and I love this great pattern.

Bergamo Shrug from Weekend Knitting

This Great little shrug is one of the MANY things I have on my needles right now. I will slowly add the others over the next week, or two, or three. There are a lot of things going right now.

I am using Rowan RY Cashsoft. I love love love this yarn. It is so soft and is marvelous to knit with.

I have finished the back and the sides and I am starting to pick up the stitches for the boarders. Picking up stitches is always a "more then once" proposition. It usually takes me two or three times before the right number of stitches appear on my needles.

On the left side I needed 96 stitches total. I had to do it 3 times before that happened evenly. Hopefully the other edges will go faster.

This is the first of my Christmas knitting!!
I am not behind yet!!

Mother's Day and Sons

My wonderful, brilliant, fabulous oldest son (forgive the gushing but it is mother's day) spent much of the day helping me set up my blog.

He is a graphic arts student who knows all the ends and outs of all things technical. Thanks to him I am as "techno" savvy as I am.

He will be leaving in September for the Academy of Arts Institute in down town San Francisco. He is going to have so much fun!

I don't know what we will do without him and his technical expertise around here.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day!

Testing Testing

I have been waiting to start a blog until I had a new computer. I live in a house that is always on the cutting edge of Apple technology and has enough computer power to for the whole block.

But my computer and technology prowes comes from hand-me-downs!

I am working on a very old I-Book that has very little space on it and runs very slow. I finally got rid of that old GYNORMOUS compter screen and now have a nice flat screen. (DS upgraded to a larger flat screen).

But this morning I cannot wait any longer.........Blog Land here I come!!

So........ This is a Test of the Marvelous Knitting Blog and it is time to have Fun!!
